So the house has been undergoing changes. Start with a new sidewalk:

Then put in a new porch (and porch light):

Here’s another view:

Take out the rickety side-steps and make the new ones match the porch:

Oh, and don’t forget the new paint. Blue. Very blue. And, voila! It’s like a whole new house!

Mattie and Bailey have been faaaaascinated by the views from the window. Mattie seems very, very tempted to jump (if, in the future, it ends up that Mattie does jump, I think she will be fine. If Bailey sees this, he will probably give it a go, terrified, and limp around for a week or so.)

So here are two pictures. One on the trip TO Seattle. And one on the trip FROM Seattle. Can you tell the difference? (Another difference: one was taken with a horrible, grainy, awful camera phone, for which I profusely apologize).

During our weekend in Seattle, Laura, MacLeod, Akian, Conlan, Alicia, and Marcus and I went to see the Angels play a game in Safeco. As some may know, the Angels are my favorite team, so we have made it an annual tradition to get over to see at least one game. Marcus gamely wore an Angels hat, though he both dislikes the Angels and hats. He was happy to wear his Phillies jersey, as was I, since I considered the red to be a kind of solidarity. As the pictures attest, it was a lovely day for a ballgame (there are tiny captions at the bottom left of each photograph). Lovely, even if the home team won.

Marcus and I took a little trip up to Seattle for the weekend, to visit my sister, bro-in-law, and nephews. On Saturday, we to a little beach at Edmonds, and it was a spectacular day for it. The beach is down at the end of a little hike through the woods, which filters out some people. Then the beach was supposedly closed, but the park ranger told us not to worry about it, and said if we went through a little tunnel, we could access the beach. Which is just what we did. Easily the nicest day of the year so far, weather-wise. Here are some photographs of us relaxing. And if you have really good vision, there are some itty-bitty captions at the bottom left. The pictures, though, are probably self-explanatory.

Sometimes pictures get lost in the shuffle. Between importing photos, editing photos, moving photos from this folder to that, uploading photos and organizing photos, well, sometimes some pictures just go missing. Then they reappear in odd folders.

Here are three from earlier in the spring that I didn’t “discover” until just now.
