Christalle at the Lake

Christalle at Liberty Lake

It seems like I didn’t do as many photoshoots this year, but this one makes up for all the ones I haven’t done.  This was nearly perfect.  Start with Christalle, who is not only one of my favorite models to work with (see the evidence here, here and here), but is a great person, too.  Then, on a gorgeous summer evening, head to scenic lake, like, say, Liberty Lake east of Spokane, with surprisingly warm water (important for model and photographer both, in this case).  Then, by the graces of the photography gods, drop a spectacular sunset behind.  The result is one of the best shoots of the year.

Minor League Baseball in Spokane

On a the first hot evening of summer, Marcus and I went down the hill to the ballpark to watch Spokane’s minor league baseball team.  As the above picture suggestion, Marcus was ebullient (or maybe he was just loopy).  Photographs from the game are here (with captions to the lower left of the images).

Back on the Ferry

The return trip across the Puget Sound on the ferry was really different from the first, mostly because the weather was fantastic.  It gave the me the chance to wander around a bit at take pictures.  I played a lot with the wide-angle lens and got some really funky angles and lines.  I already knew I loved weather; ends up, I love ferries, too!  Click here for the photographs.

On the Olympic Peninsula

Olympic Peninsula

Kim and Colin had their wedding on the beach of Makah Bay, and I was lucky enough to be their photographer.  I arrived a bit early, which gave me some time to go up to Cape Flattery, which is the Northwestern-most point in the continental United States.  Included are a few scenic pictures from the beach, Cape Flattery, Makah Bay, Neah Bay, and Lake Crescent.  Beautiful, beautiful.  My photographs don’t begin to convey it all; you’ll just have to imagine the smell of salt water, the warmth of the sun on the skin competing with a cool Pacific breeze.

On the Ferry to the Olympic Peninsula

I had a wedding way out at Makah Bay on the Olympic Peninsula, which meant a couple of Ferry rides, which, I think, are really cool.  The voyage over, in fact, was triplepluscool, because 1) I rode on a Ferry named “The Spokane”, and 2) I was the very first car in line, and 3) the sky was stormy and perfect for pictures, a small gallery of which you can find here.

Britanne at Night

It’s Britanne again.  We had done the car shoot before.  But we wanted to shoot again, and I had this idea for a photoshoot of using ambient street light at night, particularly from shop windows.  We also did a bit of off-camera lighting stuff.  Mostly, Britanne was game for anything, on a deceptively chilly evening, and was, as usual, gorgeous, as you can see from the photos.  Hopefully we’ll work again in the near future.
